Indicated

Situated on a rise on an E-W drumlin ridge. An embanked circular enclosure (ext. diam. c. 35m) is depicted on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is described in gothic lettering as a ‘fort’, and it is depicted as an irregularly shaped field cut by a WNW-ESE field bank at NE on the 1907 edition. Traces of a low bank (Wth c. 10m) are visible ESE-S-WNW in improved pasture enclosing a circular grass-covered area (diam. c. 30m E-W) and backing onto the S side of the field bank but no archaeological feature is visible N of the field bank. Rath (MO025-041----) is c. 50m to the W. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986).
