Indicated is a walled L-shaped graveyard on the north west edge of Fermoy, marked by a plaque naming it as a famine burial ground. It stood beside a Union Work House and served that institution during the hunger years, perhaps only through early 1847. The grass is level and empty of markers now, but the stone walls still hold the shape of a place made for sorrow.

On NW side of Fermoy town, L-shaped graveyard enclosed by high stone walls. Entered by gateway with pair of widely spaced cut-limestone piers at E end of S wall; plaque commemorating use as famine burial ground on W pier. Archway into military graveyard (15200) at E end of N wall; blocked gateway at N end of W wall. Ruinous 1-storey gabled structure at SW corner. Interior level, grass-covered; no evident burial markers. Served adjacent Union Work House (now demolished); according to Garner (1986, 73), graveyard 'was only in use during the earlier part of 1847'.
