What is recorded here

Indicated is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Grange (ballintober South By.), County Roscommon, Ireland. It occupies the crest of a north-facing slope as a D-shaped grass-covered area measuring 44.7m north-south and 34.4m east-west. An earthen bank runs from south-south-east through west to north, while a shallow fosse marks the south-south-east and south sections. Farm buildings truncate the eastern edge, and gaps appear at south-south-west, south-west and west-north-west without revealing the original entrance.

At the crest of a N-facing slope. D-shaped grass-covered area (dims 44.7m N-S; 34.4m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 2-3.6m; int. H 0.3-0.5m; ext. H 0.9-1.6m) SSE-W-N, with a fosse (Wth of base 2.8m; D 0.1m) SSE-S. The monument is truncated by farm buildings at E (L 30m), and the perimeter cannot be traced N-NE. There are gaps at SSW (Wth 1.8m), SW (Wth 2.3m) and WNW (Wth 2m) but the original entrance cannot be identified. Man-made underground passage (RO028-185002-) is in the interior.
