What is recorded here

Indicated is a crannog in Garrynphort (athlone North By.), County Roscommon, Ireland. The site appears as a small island on the 1915 Ordnance Survey map and occupies a grass-covered rise at the southwest shore of Lough Croan. A circular spread of boulders measures 25 metres across, yet no clear evidence of artificial construction remains. Another crannog lies 100 metres to the north.

Marked as a small island on the 1915 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a rise at the SW shore of the turlough Lough Croan (dims c. 3 km NW-SE; c. 200-300m NE-SW). This is a circular spread of boulders (diam. 25m N-S; 25m E-W) on a grass-covered rise (H 0.45m) with some distinctive boulders on the perimeter, but there is no clear evidence of artificial construction.
