In the N corner of a modern field, straddling elevated ground with a gradual undulating fall of ground to SW, providing good views westward over extensive bogland. Slightly raised circular area (c. 32m NW-SE) defined by a scarp. The scarp (H 1.7m) is substantial at SSE−NW where cuts into and is enhanced by the natural slope, with a further fall of c. 1m below the scarp. It is somewhat lower and slumped at N-NE (H 1.3m), and at E there is a long gradual slope from the centre of the interior to exterior ground level, possibly the location of an original entrance. The W half of the interior is relatively level. When inspected in 2000 a hollow surrounded by disturbed ground was noted to SW of centre but could not be examined closely due to overgrowth. A previous inspection found surface disturbance due to the feeding of cattle in the interior (SMR file 1984).
