What is recorded here

In undulating pastureland, formerly part of the demesne of Eastwell House, the site of which lies 200m to NW. Marked but not named on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map as an irregularly shaped hachured enclosure. What is visible is a very poorly preserved roughly oval enclosure (N-S c. 65m, E-W 50m), now badly overgrown, enclosed by a stone wall and entered via an arched gateway at NW. In the interior is a burial vault beside which is an elaborately decorated stone cross commemorating 'Christopher Ussher' who died in 1884. A portal dolmen dating to the Neolithic period; its location within a former demesne suggests possible historical continuity of landscape use.
