A worker at the quarry in Eaglehill might have picked a stone worth hauling, then found the marshy ground made every step back with it a nuisance. His companion would point out a drier way round, carefully waiting until the stone was on the cart.
In a marshy field of rough scrubland. A hachured feature marked on the 1920 edition of the OS 6-inch map proved on inspection in 1983 to be a disused quarry pit. As it is of post-AD 1700 date it does not come within the remit of the Archaeological Survey of Ireland.
