Situated at the S end of a N-S drumlin ridge. This is depicted as an embanked circular enclosure (ext. diam. c. 40m) and described as a 'fort' in gothic lettering on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map and as a curve in a field bank SE-W-NW on the 1907 edition. It is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 35m NW-SE) defined by the curving field bank and hedge SE-W –NW but a low bank (Wth c. 3m; H 0.25m) survives inside the line of the field bank W-N. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986).
