What is recorded here

Indicated is a levelled fairy fort in County Cork, preserving a thirty-one metre circular memory beside a Brogeen tributary. Its southern bank still stands one metre high within a field boundary, while the rest has surrendered to pasture and forgotten steps. The land may still remember the shape of hands that built it, even when human memory has departed.

In pasture, on gentle E-facing slope, overlooking tributary of Brogeen River. Depicted as hachured roughly circular enclosure (c. 30m E-W; c. 25m N-S) adjoining N side of laneway on 1842 OS 6-inch map; indicated as oval enclosure defined by solid line and broken line on 1905 and 1937 OS 6-inch maps respectively. Levelled; circular area (31.5m N-S; 31.5m E-W) defined by earthen bank (int. H 0.6m; ext. H 1m) to S where incorporated into field boundary system; by low rise elsewhere.
