What is recorded here

On SW-facing slope in grassland. Conjoined ringfort in fair condition. The N enclosure (NE-SW 55.5m, NW-SE 38.5m), oval in plan, is defined by a bank and external fosse. The fosse survives from W through N to NNE, and a field wall overlies the bank from N to NE. The S enclosure (D 24.5m), circular in plan, is defined by a bank of earth and stone. Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in DawrosFairy fort / earthen ringfort · 56 ydComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Dawros has no official details, so let's say it was built on a bargain where the builder got free tea. Go back in winter, it's a different animal.

Children's burial ground in Bullaun (clare By.)Children's burial ground · 993 ydComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom Children's burial ground in Bullaun is inside a ringfort with no visible trace left at all. There’s a tall tale about a hidden tunnel going straight to the local pub, which is my favorite part. Bring a jacket; it's never as warm as I promise it will be.

Corrofin BridgeBridge · 1.7 mi

Explorer Tom Corrofin Bridge has an imaginary fan club of local ducks who follow it around singing sea shanties. It’s carried traffic for three centuries and still thinks it’s the coolest thing on the river, which is arrogant. Bring a jacket, it's never as warm as you think out there.

Saint Colman's Catholic ChurchChurch/chapel · 1.7 mi

Explorer Tom Saint Colman's has a bird on the roof that refuses to leave and acts like it owns the place. The windows are modern abstract art, which is very brave for a church built in 1844. Get a photo with it before

Castle (in ruins)Castle, tower house · 2.7 mi

Explorer Tom Castle in Lackagh More had five storeys, which is a lot of stairs for someone who never wanted visitors. The north corner collapsed because it got tired of holding up the roof. Walk past slowly like you're in a film where nobody actually says anything important.
