Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

On a shelf towards the E end of a broad WNW-ESE drumlin ridge. D-shaped grass-covered area (dims 55.9m N-S; 44.6m E-W) defined by an earthen bank with some bushes (Wth 4.2-6.8m; int. H 0.2-0.5m; ext. H 0.9-1.2m), although much reduced (Wth 2m; H 0.2m) E-S. The straight side is at W where the monument may have been truncated. There is no visible fosse, and the entrance (Wth 2.2m) at the NW angle may be modern. The monument is overlain by a NNE-SSW field wall which is met at the centre by a WNW-ESE field wall on the W side. Rath (RO028-041----) is c. 130m to the SW and rath (RO022-134----) is c. 220m to the ENE. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
