Situated on a NW-facing slope overlooking the confluence of a NNE-SSW stream with the Corock River which here changes direction from W-E to N-S. A magnetic gradiometer survey (20R0129) over an extensive area identified four ring-ditches on land that was once part of the demesne of Coolcliffe House. This circular feature (diam. c. 15m) is defined by a single fosse with breaks at SW (Wth c. 4m) and NE (Wth c. 4m) and could be represented as a small tree-ring on the 1839 edition of the OS 6-inch map.
