Enclosure in Cloroge Beg

Located on a slight NW-SE spur of the foothills of the Blackstairs Mountains between river valleys with a NW-SE stream c. 80m to the S. It is marked as a rectangular wooded feature c. 150m S of Wilmount House on the 1839 and 1924 eds of the OS 6-inch map, but it is regarded locally as a raheen. This is a rectangular grass and fern-covered area (dims. 32m NE-SW; 27m NW-SE) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3m; H 0.5-0.7m). The foundations of a rectangular building (dims. 16m NE-SW; 8.5m NW-SE), visible as a stone spread (Wth c. 2m), are within the interior. The enclosure has no visible fosse or entrance.
