Indicated

Adjacent to a farmstead, located on a N-facing slope. Indicated on the 1838 OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 15-20m). By the time of the 1920 edition it had been greatly modified; an arc of hachuring is depicted, which appears to represent the NW arc of the enclosure, but straight field boundaries are shown truncating the E, S and W sides. The outline of the original circular enclosure can no longer be traced. According to local information, this location consisted, within living memory, as a small rectangular area (c. 15-20m E−W; c. 10m N−S) with straight field fences on the E, S and W sides. There was a sharp slope or scarp on the N side. The interior was level and covered with trees. The field fences have since been removed, and the scarp at N is levelled to a broad, low broadly slope (H 1m). The location is now used to store silage.
