On a slight S-facing slope. Denis O'Conor received a partial return of O'Conor lands in 1720 and built a house (RO015-048001-) here in 1727 which became the home of his son Charles O'Conor, the antiquarian. The house is at the NW angle of a walled courtyard or bawn (dims 34m N-S; 34m E-W) defined by masonry walls (T 0.7m; max. H 3m), which does not appear to be an ancient structure. Denis O'Conor built Bellanagare House in 1727 on recovered family lands, and it later became the home of his son Charles O'Conor, a noted Irish antiquarian. The house is remembered for its association with Charles O'Conor, who played a significant role in preserving Irish history and culture.
