In rough upland pasture on edge of high land, valleys to S and W. A short distance to the S of church (KK002-001001-) and down field is a holy well which according to Carrigan (1905, vol. 2, 190) is called the Church Well. A small stream runs to the S from the well. It is locally supposed to be very effective for toothache. In the 1970/80s the well was lined and capped with stone. Linked to a local tradition of pilgrimage and healing, the well is associated with Saint Gobnait, a 6th-century Irish saint known for her patronage of beekeeping and fertility. The site may have pre-Christian roots, with the well's proximity to a church suggesting a possible Christianization of an earlier ritual site.
