Hut site in Mangerton

In rough hill pasture, on the SW-facing slope of Mangerton Mountain, overlooking the valley of the Owbaun River to the SW and within the E side of a network of relict field boundaries (KE084-044001-). The remains of a circular hut site (diam. 2.2m) defined by a collapsed drystone wall (T 0.7m; H 0.15m). The W portion of the interior is raised and the E portion is cut (D 0.8m) into the upslope to compensate for the hillslope. An ENE-WSW section of a relict wall from within the field wall network is 6m to the N. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry.
