Hut site in Gearhanagoul

In rough hill pasture, on a S-facing slope, in the valley of Coomeelan stream. The remains of a circular hut site (diam. 3m) defined by a partially grass-covered drystone wall (T 0.7m; H 0.4m) which is best preserved SW-N. The lower courses of the wall protrude above the surface of the bog. The S portion of the interior is raised (H 0.2m) and the N portion is cut (D 0.3m) into the upslope to compensate for the hillslope. The interior is level. Another two hut sites (KE103-024004-, KE103-020006-) are 1m to the N and c. 8m to the S, respectively. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry.
