Hut site in Doonaltan

Hut site

What is recorded here

This subrectangular hut site (7m E-W; 5m N-S) is defined by a low bank (Wth 1.6-2m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 0.4m). A break (Wth 1.5m) in the bank at N end of E side may represent an entrance. There is a second, probably relatively modern, break (Wth. 2.6m) at SW. A field bank (SL012-003002-) lies adjacent, curving around the W and S sides of the hut site. A second hut site (SL012-003004-), built against the field bank, lies 4m to N, and there is a rath (SL012-003001-) c. 40m to N. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 19 January 2011
