Hut site in Derrygreenia

In rough hill pasture, on a break on the N-facing slope of Knocknaveacal. The remains of a rectangular hut site (4.4m N-S; 2m E-W) defined by the lower courses of a drystone wall (T c. 0.7m; H 0.3m) along the N, E and S sides and by two parallel, contiguous rows of upright stone slabs (H 1.1m), set end to end, along the W side. There is an entrance (Wth 0.5m) in the W wall. The drystone wall is partly grass covered and rubble from the collapsed upper courses is scattered in the interior. The hut site is obscured by ferns. There is an enclosure (KE108-052001-) in the immediate vicinity to the S. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry.
