Hut site in Ballynacarriga (bear By.)

In rough moorland, on cutaway bog on top of a low hill on the promontory leading to Crow Head. The remains of a circular hut site (diam. 4.7m) defined by a sod-covered stone wall (T 2.2m; H 0.55m). The wall consists of an intermittent inner row of contiguous stone slabs and an outer wall displaying traces of horizontally laid stones, and with an infill of rubble. A stone slab (H 0.55m; 0.6m x 0.45m) at the NE may indicate one side of the entrance. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
