Hudsons

Terraced three-bay two-storey house, built c.1830, converted to a shop, c.1910, and now in use as office. The façade is finished in painted render with moulded quoins and dressings. The pitched roof is slated and has rendered chimneystacks. The original house entrance which now serves the shop to the north side and the apartment, consists of a panelled timber double door and rectangular fanlight encased with slender pilaster jambs. To the north is a shop window with pilasters and replacement timber frames. To south is a similar ‘shop’ window, with smaller window next to it and a mainly glazed door next to this, all with jambs as before. A long timber signboard with cornice stretches over all the ground floor openings. The first floor windows are flat-headed and have one over one timber sash frames. Cast-iron rainwater goods.

Though the replacement shop windows are not entirely suitable, this property is largely well preserved and continues to be an asset to the streetscape.
