House, 17th century

What is recorded here

The Civil Survey (1654-6) (Simington 1931, vol. 1, 303) refers to 'the walles of two houses with a bawne about them' in 'Mullaghneony' which was under the proprietorship of 'John Butler…gent. Irish Papist' in 1640. The may have been within the bawn (TS076-042002-) associated with the tower house (TS076-042001-) which is very now disturbed with several small quarried areas or at a separate unknown location. No visible traces of these houses could be identified at ground level. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of revised upload: 24 September 2014

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
