Garrylough was acquired by Robert Codd, who was probably related to the Codd family of Castletown Carne (WX053-027----), in the 1580s. In 1622 it was held by Balthazar Codd, whose sons, Thomas and Jasper, joined the Confederate Catholics in the 1640s (Cavanagh 1911-12, 257). According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) Thomas Codd possessed 391 acres in Garrylough and Killelinroth (Killelan) townlands in St. Nicholas’ parish as well as two ruined mills and a stone house in 1641 (Simington 1953, 61). These features are not marked on the Down Survey parish map (1656-8). Garrylough subsequently passed to the Hutton family of Artramon (Jeffrey 1979, 184-6).
