What is recorded here

A house with a chimney is depicted on the Down Survey barony map (1656-8) of Forth at Bunargate (15) in Tacumshin parish. According to the Book of Survey and Distribution (1660s) Nicholas Stafford of Ballymacane (WX053-005----) owned 41 acres here in 1640 (Simington 1953, 304-05) and over 200 acres in the parish as well as Lady’s Island Lough, then known as Lough Tougher. The precise location of this house is not known.
