Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in FinugeFairy fort / earthen ringfort · 553 ydComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom Finuge’s ‘ringfort of the spancel’ is now just a barn and a very confused cow standing on its grave. The neighbours are still furious about who stole the fence posts back in 1842. Hum something sad nearby, it adds atmosphere.

Fulacht fia in FinugeFulacht fia · 699 ydComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom Fulacht fia in Finuge is proud of its tiny 3.3m entrance, which fits exactly one grumpy farmer at a time. It's a bit of a snoot for anyone trying to be fancy. Best enjoyed with a bag of chips and no plans.

Moated site in FinugeMoated site · 790 ydComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom Moated site in Finuge holds the world record for being square but also rectangular, which is just embarrassing geometry. It’s so overgrown it’s basically a green smudge with commitment issues. Tell the next person you meet it's haunted.

Grave YardGraveyard · 1106 ydComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom Graveyard in Finuge was square in 1841 and round by 1939, which is either magic or bad surveying. It’s known locally as the church field, so keep an eye out for hidden messages in its stones. Stand back, squint, and it looks like a castle.

Children's burial ground in KillacrimChildren's burial ground · 1322 ydComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom Children's burial ground in Killacrim was ploughed out by a landowner who probably thought the kids needed more space to play. It’s now an orchard, so imagine the mother-in-law who designed this layout and what she’d say about the apples. Find the wonkiest bit and send it to your group chat.

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in DromloughraFairy fort / earthen ringfort · 1.0 miComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Dromloughra is basically a hill that gave up halfway. The local sheep are convinced it’s just a fancy bed, and honestly? They’re right. Go now, before it gets famous.

Billeragh HouseHouse · 1.2 mi

Explorer Tom Billeragh House has an imaginary fan club that meets in the garden every Tuesday afternoon. The one-over-one pane windows are just peeking out to see who shows up. A proper spot for a flask of tea and a big think.

Holy Cross ConventHouse · 2.3 mi

Explorer Tom Holy Cross Convent has caught my eye in Listowel, County Kerry. I bet a house with a name like that could keep me talking all afternoon; I'm already inventing a daft little scene for it, and I'll stop before it turns into history.

Listowel Castle (in ruins)Castle, tower house · 2.5 mi

Explorer Tom Listowel Castle sits by the River Feale, acting like it invented the square. A local claims he built it with a spoon and some glue. It was originally much bigger but lost its lower section in a bad bet. Best visited with a curious kid and no timetable.

Bryan MacMahonMemorial · 2.5 mi
