Detached four-bay single-storey vernacular house with dormer attic, built c.1800, having windbreak to entrance and late twentieth-century single-storey extension to rear. Rendered walls with rendered plinth, raised quoins to walls and to windbreak, and moulded eaves course. Pitched thatched roof with decorative knotting to ridge, stone copings having decorative moulded pilaster to one end, and one low rendered chimneystack. Square-headed window openings with render surrounds, painted sills and replacement uPVC windows. Sheeted timber door with plain overlight. Set parallel to road with single-storey random rubble outbuilding to east and yard to rear.

An increasingly rare sight, the thatched house is a physical reminder of the tradition of Irish vernacular building. This thatched building retains its simple form and characteristic thatched roof, rendered walls and small openings. The decorative render bands add visual interest to the facade. The building has inherent social and architectural significance and is an important addition to the vernacular heritage of the area.
