Holy well in Killyfea — Report the wrong picture

Located outside the perimeter of Cavan burial ground (LE029-022001-) at W is a rectangular enclosure (dims 10.5m N-S; 7m E-W) defined by wire fences and coniferous trees containing a drystone-built subcircular well (dims 1.3m E-W; 1m N-S; D 1m) dedicated to St Patrick, which is open to the S and still venerated. A pattern with rounds may have continued into the 1930s (IFC Schools’ Collection, vol. 0757, 242-3). (MacNamee 1954, 544.) Linked to Saint Fechín, the well is traditionally associated with cures for skin ailments and is visited on Saint Fechín's feast day, 19 July, when pilgrims collect water for healing purposes. The site reflects a broader Irish tradition of holy wells dedicated to early Christian saints and their curative properties.
