Mortons and fairies both wanted the same hill, so humans built a ring and left the centre empty. The fort stands thirty metres across on a drumlin in Lisgillock Glebe, its earthen bank still throwing shadow at dusk. People walked past it for generations, certain the fairies owned the middle and would kill anyone who touched it. That fear protected the shape long after anyone stopped remembering why.

Situated on top of a prominent drumlin. This is a grass and rush-covered circular area (diam. 33.5m N-S; 32m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (at W: Wth 6.1m; int. H 0.65m; ext. H 1.4m) with some bushes and an outer fosse (at W: Wth of base 1.8m; D 0.1m). The bank is overlain by the remains of a stone wall at W, but is reduced to a scarp (H 0.65m) to the E of a NNW-SSE field wall and hedge which overlies the monument towards the perimeter at E.
