Kilgobbin Eye Well was a curative water beside the old church until a nearby drain stopped its flow. That sudden loss suggests human hands can erase a sacred marker as easily as they make one. The water may have withdrawn because people stopped seeing it as sacred, or the drain may have broken a boundary nobody understood. Either way, the well vanished not from drought but from a decision made in soil.

The precise location of a curative well in the townland of Kilgobbin known as the 'Eye Well' has not been identified. In 1837 the Ordnance Survey recorded the following details about this well; 'Close to Kilgobban old church [DU025-016001-) there was a holy well called "The eye well" (the Tobernasool of other churches), but a drain sunk in its neighbourhood removed its spring or rather caused it to disappear.
