Holy well in Aghanboy

Not marked on the OS maps, this holy well is located on the shore close to where the Gougane river enters Portmagee Channel. It is covered by a stone and concrete structure which is surmounted by a modern cross-inscribed stone. Rounds were formerly made at the site in March and in the autumn (local information). Linked to Saint Gobnait, the well is traditionally associated with cures for eye ailments and general healing. The stone and concrete covering, along with the cross, reflect both local reverence and Christian devotion, though the site's exact historical origins remain unclear.
