Linked to Saint Bessan, the well is traditionally associated with cures for skin ailments and was historically visited on Saint Bessan’s feast day, 1 September, when pilgrims would collect water for healing purposes. The site reflects a broader Irish tradition of holy wells dedicated to early Christian saints and their role in folk religious practices.
