Historic town in Powerscourt Demesne

Historic town

What is recorded here

Parliament granted permission to Sir Edmond Mulso to establish a borough to be called Mulsoes Court, in 1450, but it is not clear whether one was ever actually established as Mulso died in 1463. The only possible remains are the oval steep-sided motte (WI007-018001-), and St Moling's holy (WI019-009----). (Bradley and King 1989, 57-60) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 December 2008

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
