Perryville HouseHouse · 106 ydExplorer Tom Perryville House on Long Quay has been watching the harbour since around 1800. It’s got a cast-iron verandah and some very fancy Victorian render mouldings that make it stand out on the street. Go see if it’s still posing.
Long Quay HouseHouse · 122 ydExplorer Tom Long Quay House in Sleveen is showing off its Georgian outfit to everyone passing by Kinsale. It’s got views over the harbour and thinks it’s the main character. Look up, the sills are decorated like a fancy cake that nobody ever got to eat.
Tim & Mortimer McCarthy MemorialMemorial · 201 ydDermot Ryan's Heritage Town WalksHeritage attraction · 223 ydExplorer Tom Gaol in Townplots was built by the Fitzgeralds, who clearly thought their coat of arms was a good security feature. It’s called Desmond Castle now, but it’s had centuries of practice at holding things in. Make a wish, it’s had plenty of time to think about it.
World War I MemorialMemorial · 668 ydExplorer Tom Battle of Kinsale in County Cork was just a long, wet siege where everyone waited for help that never really showed up. Bring curiosity, leave with a better story than mine.
Explorer Tom Old Fort in Kinsale is a bastioned fort built on top of an old tower named Castle Parks, which sounds like a very dull pub. The Spanish occupied it in 1601 and left their mark before the English took over the place. Bring the dog, it'll have opinions.
Explorer Tom James' Fort in Kinsale is a pentagonal beauty from the early 1600s sitting right on the harbour. It looks like it’s waiting for a pirate party. Snap a photo of that castlepark peninsula view!
Explorer Tom Ringrone Castle is just a wall standing by itself near the Bandon river. Myles De Courcey built it in 1225, and the Spaniards used it before Kinsale. It’s not much left, but it’s still got that de Courcy attitude. Wave at the wall!
