Headstone in Powerstown East marks a late 17th-century memorial inside Powerstown church or graveyard. It may be the smallest witness left from a time when people still shaped stone for death rather than displaying it for praise. Whatever name once stood on it, the town kept the shape of that loss long after the words faded.
