Handball alley in Knockaglana was supposedly built for the constabulary next door, which sounds a poor escape from work. Spend all day catching repeat offenders, then spend your evening with a ball that’s back against the same stone wall before you’ve finished releasing it.
Handball alley, extant 1908[?], with overgrown coursed rubble stone boundary wall to perimeter retaining sections of rendered surface finish. Now disused. Road fronted.
A dilapidated handball alley allegedly erected for recreational use by officers stationed at the adjacent constabulary barrack (see 31306003) and regarded as an interesting component of the early twentieth-century architectural heritage of Pontoon.
