What is recorded here

Indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map as a trapezoidal-shaped enclosure (dims. c. 24m N-S; c. 20m E-W at N tapering to c. 12m at S). A quarry is shown running up to the E edge of the enclosure, with a sand pit adjacent to the N and a trackway is indicated running roughly N-S along the W side of the enclosure. The enclosure is not indicated on the 1900 revision but a field boundary is indicated where the trackway was on the 1st ed., with a kink in the boundary following the W side of the enclosure. This field boundary has subsequently been levelled (satellite imagery Google Earth imagery date 8 June 2005). Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 28 February 2022
