Haggardstown in County Louth, Ireland, may have been a multi-period enclosed settlement. Test trenches exposed ditches, wall foundations, a hearth, pits, burning spreads, charcoal deposits, passage ware pottery, shell remains, and human and animal bone. People may have lived there across more than one age, cooking, keeping animals, marking boundaries, and leaving behind the small remains that still trigger wonder.

Discovered during archaeological test trenching (Excavation Licence No. 01E0015). A number of ditches were exposed along with wall foundations, a hearth, pits, spreads of burning and charcoal deposits. Finds recovered included a fragment of Man-made underground passage ware pottery, shell remains and fragments of human and animal bone. The evidence produced from these test trenches has led the excavator to suggest that it may represent a possible multi-period enclosed settlement site. (Moore 2001).
