Freestanding grotto, built c. 1955, dedicated to apparition of Blessed Virgin Mary at Lourdes. Rounded rubble limestone construction with rubble and roughly-dressed voussoirs to two arched recesses. Freestanding statues and carved limestone commemorative plaque to west. Wrought-iron gate to front of site.
This grotto dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes occupies a prominent position in the village of Lattin. The wall plaque commemorating those who gave their lives for their country is a poignant reminder of our history. The grotto, with the old graveyard to the west and Church of the Assumption across the road, forms part of a group of religious structures within the small village of Lattin.
