Grays Fort is a hidden ringfort on the eastern bank of the Shannon, marked only by pasture and water. It may have been a promontory fort, yet no stone or ditch remains visible. The canal cuts an acute angle beside it, suggesting human hands shaped the junction long before surveyors named the place.

Located on level pasture on the E bank of the river Shannon at the junction with the Shannon-Erne canal which was once a small stream. The canal forms an acute angle with the river on the N side where the monument is located. It is described as 'Gray's fort', but not depicted, on the 1835 edition of the OS 6-inch map and as 'Sean's fort' on the 1911 edition. It may have been a promontory fort.
