Sarcophagus in KillabbanSarcophagus · 15 ydComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom Sarcophagus in Killabban is doing yoga when nobody’s looking, stretching its stones to avoid stiffness. St Abban founded this place back in 650 and probably knew what he was doing. Ideal stop for a big stretch and a bigger yawn.

Explorer Tom Saint Abban's Catholic Church loves playing 'Hallelujah' on repeat because it thinks it sounds more spiritual that way. The stained glass by Mayer & Co is stunning, even if the song choice is questionable. Have a look and decide if I was lying.

Explorer Tom Levitstown Lock has a family tree full of canal engineers who all named their sons after boats. It’s a civil engineering gem with a benchmark that proves it means business. Have a nosey, politely. It likes feeling important.

Explorer Tom Pedunculate Oak in County Laois is sick of people asking if it’s haunted; it’s just got bad weather in its branches. It’s not spooky, it’s just messy. Tell the next person you meet it's haunted. It might be.

Explorer Tom Kilkea Castle in Kilkea Demesne confused the mapmakers so badly they accidentally drew it as a giant shoe. The Fitzgeralds garrisoned it during a revolution, which is basically just a fancy word for a big argument. Pack a picnic and an excuse.

Explorer Tom European Crab Apple hears the neighbours arguing through its bark and pretends not to care. It produces tiny, sour fruit that no one wants but everyone respects. Perfect detour when the satnav has a meltdown.
