On E side of main street of Buttevant, on W bank of Awbeg River. Ruin of friary (14382) occupies SE corner; St Mary's Catholic Church (14735), incorporating earlier tower, occupies NW corner. Subrectangular graveyard (c. 60m N-S; c. 80m E-W); area of burial covers cloister area of friary and also extends inside friary. In use; contains 'a significant number of mid-18th century headstones' (Zajac et al. 1995, 13); memorials and gravemarkers inside friary listed by Fitzgerald (1904-6b, 233-6).
