Grave Yard

On the W side of a road. A rectangular graveyard (60m E-W; 55m N-S) enclosed by a low stone wall. The ruin of the parish church of Killerry (SL021-011001-) forms part of the S boundary wall. The graveyard is under grass and contains many 19th- and 20th-century headstones and some low uninscribed grave-markers as well as several chest-tombs and several recumbent graveslabs. It is still in occasional use. In the NE quadrant are several curing stones and a straining stone (SL021-011003-). According to Wood-Martin (1892, 364), this graveyard was 'cleared and levelled' in the 19th century.
