Medieval church site (LI022-057001-) known locally as 'Teampull na Sceac', or 'Church of the Bushes' stood in the centre of a rectangular shaped graveyard (approx. dims. 33m N-S x 49m E-W) enclosed by a post-1700 stone wall with entrance gate in centre of W wall. The church and graveyard lie in the S quadrant of a large oval-shaped ecclesiastical enclosure (LI022-057003-). The Ordnance Survey letters recorded that the name of this parish is in 'Irish Cill Fhionachta which signifies the Cell or Church of Fionachta [Fionshneachta], who is believed to have been a Saint' (OSL, 148).
