Grave Yard

On the W side of Inchmore Island, in the S end of Lough Gowna. This subrectangular graveyard (c. 61m NW-SE; c. 40m NE-SW) is enclosed by a stone wall and is very heavily overgrown with scrub. There is a church (LF006-032003-) at its S end and remains of an Augustinian priory (LF006-032002-) at its N end. Access is via a wrought-iron gate with an adjoining stile at the S end of the W wall. Numerous architectural fragments from the church and priory have been reused as grave-markers. A number of low uninscribed upright stones are similarly used.
