Grave Yard, Crosserdree

Trapezoidal-shaped graveyard (approx. dims. 41m N-S x 46m E-W) enclosed by a low earthen tree-lined bank with poorly preserved dry stone wall external facing with entrance gate at W end of S boundary. Medieval Crosserdree church ruins (WM013-053----) and font (WM013-053003-) in centre of graveyard. Overgrown graveyard covered in scrub contains a few headstones dating from the 18th century onwards mainly concentrated in SE quadrant, low rows of uninscribed stones also served as gravemarkers. According to Swan (1988, 26) the curving form of the E section of the graveyard boundary wall possibly indicated the presence of an Early Christian ecclesiastical enclosure (WM013-053002-).
