Grave Yard

Just N of centre in a probable early ecclesiastical enclosure (GA044-37001-). Named on OS 6-inch maps as a 'Grave Yard', but it is known locally as a CBG. It comprises a roughly rectangular area (NW-SE 18.9m, NE-SW 13.1m) defined by a low scarp (H 0.8m max.) save along SW side which is partly defined by a stone revetment. The interior is occupied by several rows of small undressed headstones running NW-SE, indicating graves oriented roughly E-W. Four rectangular areas defined by set stones, probably individual graves, are visible, while a cluster of three whitethorn bushes mantle SE end.
