St. Brigid's Church of Ireland occupies the heart of a large rectangular graveyard in Castleknock, built upon the ancient footprint of a Benedictine priory church. Stone walls enclose the space, guarding memorials that have accumulated since the early 1700s while the priory itself faded into legend. The dead have layered the soil for centuries, waiting beneath the living church for whoever remembers their names.

St. Brigid's Church of Ireland church in Castleknock village was built on the site of a church (DU017-008001-) attached to the Benedictine Priory of Little Malvern (Ball 1920, 33) now stands in the centre of a large rectangular-shaped graveyard (dims. c. 66m N-S x 85m E-W) enclosed by a stone wall with entrance gate to E. Graveyard contains memorials from the post-1700 period onwards (NLI, PD 1958 TX 39). Possible priory church (DU017-008003-) of the Benedictine Order stood on the site of the present church or in close proximity within the graveyard.
