Grave Yard

The enclosure (WX024-035001-) is described as a graveyard on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6-inch map and is referred to as a fort that was used for burial by John O’Donovan writing c. 1840 (O'Flanagan 1933, vol. 2, 347). The site is situated in the valley of the NE-SW Poulmounty River in the foothills of White Mountain with the stream c. 40m to the W. This is a subrectangular platform (diam. c. 50m), locally known to be stony, but there is no evidence of a church (WX024-035003-) or of burial in a root crop.
