post box15 ydExplorer Tom Post box on Collins Avenue is a round cast-iron pillar from around 1930. Made by the Carron Company in Scotland, it has a 'P&T' insignia. It dates to the early Irish Republic era. The dentillated frieze and domed cap make it look fancy. A functional piece of street furniture with style!
Albert CollegeCollege · 448 ydExplorer Tom Albert College is an austere mid-nineteenth-century building on the DCU campus, built in 1851. It’s got a U-shaped plan and a restrained granite palette. It’s one of two remaining buildings from the Albert Agricultural College era, standing firm against the modern times.
Explorer Tom Chrysler in County Dublin is a memorial to a car brand? That seems excessive, but I'll allow it. It's probably just a sign somewhere. Take a photo of the logo if you see it.
Explorer Tom Hampstead Castle’s stones were used to build Elmhurst House around 1869; picture Sir John Rogerson’s walled court standing on that land long ago.
Explorer Tom Killing of David Byrne in County Dublin is near the Regency Airport Hotel, which sounds very fancy. The death happened close to a main route. Take a pic of the hotel and pretend you’re checking in for good.
Explorer Tom Mound, hidden behind thorns near the Poor Clares. Who pruned this ancient hill into a spiky, sycamore-studded bush?
Explorer Tom St Pappans Church. A raised platform of sycamores marks an early enclosure, cut through by a Domville family tomb. The churchyard wall continues the line, keeping the old shape alive in stone.
BallymunVisitor information · 1.1 miExplorer Tom Ballymun in County Dublin is doing some serious redevelopment, mostly by turning office blocks into things that look like office blocks. It's a deprived part of Dublin, so bring a scarf for luck.
Baldcypress1.1 miExplorer Tom Baldcypress in County Dublin is a bare mystery tree with no specific account. It probably spends its days swaying gracefully while judging everyone else's fashion choices from the ground up. Take a photo if you see it!
Dawn Redwood1.1 miExplorer Tom Dawn Redwood in County Dublin is trying to look prehistoric but failing miserably. It's just a confused tree in the wrong century. Ask it how it got here.
Explorer Tom National Botanic Gardens in County Dublin is pretending to be a serious institution, but there's a painting called 'Craobh' hanging around that looks suspiciously like it's judging you. Snap a pic of that tree for me!
Glasnevin CemeteryHistoric cemetery · 1.4 miExplorer Tom Glasnevin Cemetery is the whole historic area, not just the office. It’s got Daniel O’Connell’s tomb with a fake round tower on top. Snap that symbolic structure if you’re wandering around!
